Texas judge approves historic settlement agreement in Formosa Plastics case

The largest settlement in history involving a civilian environmental suit occurred this month. Diane Wilson filed a lawsuit against plastics giant Formosa alleging that that their plant in Fort Comfort illegally discarded over a thousand plus pollutants, including plastics including plastic pellets. Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt had strong words for the corporation, branding them a “serial offender.” He said that the thought of the money from the settlement going toward an environmental project.
