In March of 2018, Elaine Herzberg was walking in Tempe Arizona, when she was struck by an test version of a self-driving Uber car and killed. Upon researching the horrific accident, the National Transportation Safety Board has determined that the Uber operator behind the wheel of the car was at fault for the accident. She was watching a television show at the time of the accident. The NTSB believes, however, that Uber’s poor risk assessment and their failing to monitor their drivers also bore responsibility.
